Edwin Blewett, Counterpoint 

Dr. Edwin Blewett founded Counterpoint Consulting Inc in 1987. Edwin brings his economic training, analytical skills, communications abilities and innovative thinking to identify and test innovative solutions to complex problems.  Edwin’s skill set is diverse, ranging from economic analysis and econometric forecasting to market research and evaluation. He has led strategic planning teams and facilitated negotiations between parties. He has been qualified as an expert witness in the Supreme Court of British Columbia and worked as a core member of litigation teams. For more than twenty years of private practice, Edwin has enjoyed working with a wide variety of public and private sector clients. 

Don Maunders, On Strategy 

Don Maunders is the founder and principle consultant of On Strategy Consulting Inc. based in North Vancouver. Don brings 20 years of hands on experience in the creation and execution of winning corporate and marketing strategies. Since founding On Strategy in 2005, Don has had the opportunity to work with a roster of clients- large & small, public & private - across a spectrum of sectors. Don is appreciated for his capacity for listening and synthesizing new insights, and for pushing groups towards sharp strategic decision making that is rooted in the needs of the customer.

Stuart Nelson, Nelson Bros 

Stuart Nelson, president of Nelson Bros, is a management consultant focusing on business planning & analysis, strategic plan development, and provision of objective advice and expertise to government agencies. Prior to entering private practice Stuart was an operations executive and member of a strategic planning task force with a $400 million subsidiary of a $10 billion parent company. Stuart’s business experience and interpersonal intuition enables rapid assessment of clients’ unique challenges.  His suite of clients includes private sector firms and associations, government agencies, ENGOs, and First Nations, for whom he applies customized analytical approaches.

Jim Hackett, Winchelsea Forest Services

Jim is a Registered Professional Forester with an MSc in forest economics. Jim and Edwin are currently working on forecasting log prices using vector autoregressive time series techniques. They have completed two such forecasting projects: one in British Columbia and one in Washington State.

Don Lawseth, Consultant

During Don's career at Fisheries and Oceans Canada, he developed policies and managed cutting-edge initiatives in Pacific Region. He implemented the new Species at Risk Act and introduced sustainable fishing practices into First Nations, commercial and recreational harvesting sectors. He managed community development and stewardship programs for the Salmonid Enhancement Program. Don brings to his new career as consultant, his expertise in policy development, complex program management and facilitation.

Jim Stich, Optimation Inc

Jim has a DMD and an MBA; he works in health care planning and technology. Jim and Edwin developed and implemented a labour market simulation model that forecasts demand for and supply of five oral health care professions. Recently, they prepared a Research Plan for the Canadian Pharmacists Association.

Dave Barrett, Davlin Pacific Ltd

Dave is a marine biologist with a research and a business background. Dave and Edwin collaborated on preparing documentation on wild Fraser River sockeye stocks and fisheries for the Marine Stewardship Council, and prepared an Evaluation Framework for the Pacific Salmon Foundation.
